Train the Trainer Program Overview

The Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) Children’s Hearing and Vision Program Train the Trainer (TtT) program is available to prepare professional trainers (Colleges and Universities) who will provide hearing and/or vision screening training that complies with the ODH screening requirements and methodologies at no cost.

Separate TtT courses are available for both hearing and vision screening trainers.

TtT requests will be reviewed no later than ten business days from submission through the electronic request form. Upon review and approval, the TtT requestor will be contacted by the ODH Public Health Audiologist or the ODH Public Health Vision Consultant.

Train the Trainer Program Qualifications and Reporting Requirements

ODH approved hearing and vision screening trainers must have the materials necessary to provide appropriate hearing and vision screening training that complies with the ODH screening requirements and methodologies.

The responsibilities of an ODH approved screening trainer include the provision of the appropriate vision screening training platform for vision screeners, screening equipment, evaluations for each training, training evaluation summaries and copies of sign in sheets to ODH.

Evaluation summaries and copies of sign in sheets must be submitted to ODH annually by June 1st for trainings that were offered from July 1st through May 31st of that year.
