PFAS and Sensitive Populations

This factsheet offers ODH recommendations that can help sensitive populations understand the health effects of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) exposure, and can help them protect themselves from PFAS exposure.

For PFAS exposures, sensitive populations include:

  • Babies and young children
  • Pregnant and nursing women
  • Fetuses
  • Immunocompromised people and people with certain health conditions

Local health departments are encouraged to print these factsheets for distribution to sensitive populations in the event of a public health incident involving PFAS.

This factsheet may be updated periodically as new scientific information becomes available or as regulations change. You can find the date of the most recent updates to this factsheet inside the PDF.
