Ryan White Part B Program

A federal grant program providing health services to people living with HIV in Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Ryan White Part B Program promotes health and access to quality care for Ohioans living with HIV. The program offers a full spectrum of services. Eligibility for participation is:

  • HIV positive diagnosis.
  • Ohio resident.
  • Gross income at or below 500% of the federal poverty level.

Ryan White Part B HIV Client Services Program

The Ryan White Part B Program assists Ohioans living with HIV. Eligible clients must be linked with a case management agency to be enrolled and re-enrolled in Ohio’s Ryan White Part B HIV Client Services Program. The program is one of last resort, meaning the program can help cover some of the costs associated with living with HIV not otherwise covered by insurance or other community resources.  

Services that are funded include:

  • Medical, dental, and mental health services.
  • Benefit navigation.
  • Peer navigation.
  • Case management.

HIV Client Services agencies are located throughout Ohio, providing services for people living with HIV in every county in the state. For a list of these agencies, please go to the Ryan White Part B HIV Client Services Program webpage.

Ohio HIV Drug Assistance Program

ODH administers the Ohio HIV Drug Assistance Program (OHDAP), providing medications for people living with HIV. OHDAP includes the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program which is designed for those with health insurance coverage.  For more information about covered medications and HIPP, visit OHDAP.

Clinical Quality Management Program

The Ohio Ryan White Part B Clinical Quality Management (CQM) program helps monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve equitable access to quality HIV treatment and support services through the Ohio Ryan White Part B Program. This is accomplished by:

  • Ensuring Ryan White Part B-funded services meet established national care standards.
  • Establishing and monitoring the quality improvement programs and activities of subrecipients.
  • Developing and implementing the CQM Plan.
  • Conducting and facilitating quality improvement projects.
  • Maintaining and updating the program performance measurement system.
