There is no hospital  licensure in Ohio; however, hospitals must be registered and must report certain information to the ODH annually in accordance with section 3701.07  of the Ohio Revised Code. The rules set forth in Chapter 3701-59 of the Ohio Administrative Code  establish the specific reporting requirements and elements. As part of this registration process, hospitals in the State of Ohio are required to complete and submit the Annual Hospital Registration and Planning Report (AHR)  by March 1 each calendar year.

Information provided consists of data pertaining to the hospital’s location, corporate owner, classification and type. In addition, hospitals are required to provide statistical data including, but not limited to, surgical, neonatal and emergency room services, cardiac catherization, and bed utilization. This information is used not only by the Department for registration purposes, but also by many other interested parties such as hospitals, health service areas, health care consultants and other offices within the Department for planning, comparative studies, and trend analysis. To generate a Directory of Hospitals go to the following web link http://publicapps.odh.ohio.gov/eid/default.aspx and select Health Care Provider and Information Extract.  Then choose Directory of Hospitals under the report category.  You can choose if you would like to include all of the counties or if you are looking for certain counties.  You can also choose how the report is sorted.  To review annual hospital registration reports you can use the above web link and select Health Care Provider Real Time Information.  Choose hospitals from the facility type drop down menu.  Then choose Hospital Registration and place the name of the hospital you want to review.
