Ohio Hospital Licensure

Hospital Licensure Virtual Stakeholder Meetings

HB 110 requires the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to have rules in place for hospital licensure beginning October 1, 2022. ODH has drafted preliminary rules for the administration of the licensure process and the regulatory requirements for the general operation of a hospital, and will be conducting stakeholder meetings to discuss the licensure of hospitals.

To accommodate as many stakeholders as possible, ODH has scheduled two meetings to discuss the general hospital rules. Both meetings will cover the same information, therefore stakeholders should only attend one session.

The following meetings will be held virtually using Microsoft Teams. Information on how to join the meetings by computer, mobile app, or phone are included below:

Monday, May 16, 2022 – 1-3 p.m.

Please note that although the Maternity Unit/Newborn Nursery rules in Chapter 3701-07 of the Administrative Code and the Health Care Services rules in Chapter 3701-84 of the Administrative Code will be incorporated into Hospital Licensure, those rule sets will not be part of this initial discussion.

Copies of the draft rules will be provided to all attendees this week for review prior to the scheduled meetings.

Please RSVP with your name, the organization you represent, the meeting date you will attend, as well as any questions or comments on the preliminary rules to DQAClearinghouse@odh.ohio.gov by Friday, May 6, to ensure ODH staff can include any identified issues in the stakeholder discussion.

Separate stakeholder meetings will be scheduled soon to discuss hospital reporting, licensure and survey fees, and the survey process for hospitals.
