X-ray Program

The X-ray Program in the Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection regulates and promotes the safe operation of radiation-generating equipment in accordance with Ohio law.

The X-ray Program's responsibilities include:

Registering facilities with radiation-generating equipment

Licensing operators of radiation-generating equipment and nuclear medical technologists who meet educational and examination standards

Certifying Radiation Experts who meet board certification and/or educational standards

Inspecting facilities with radiation-generating equipment

Licensing and inspecting imaging and radiation therapy services at Freestanding Healthcare Facilities (HCF)

Inspecting facilities with mammography equipment as contracted by the Food and Drug Administration under the Mammography Quality Standards Act
