Medical Records Price Index

The Ohio General Assembly established categories of medical records and the corresponding fees to charge for copies of medical records in Section 3701.741 of the Ohio Revised Code.

  • Pursuant to Section 3701.742 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Ohio Department of Health is required to post the fees to its website which are adjusted annually “by the average percentage of increase or decrease in the consumer price index for all urban consumers (United States city average, all items), prepared by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, for the immediately preceding calendar year over the calendar year immediately preceding that year, as reported by the Bureau.”

The determination and adjustment of the fees are made by the Ohio Department of Health and adjusted accordingly.
