Programs with a focus on infectious diseases collect, investigate, analyze and distribute information on the incidence and prevalence of general infectious diseases, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases in Ohio. The disease surveillance system for the Ohio Department of Health is the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS). Disease reports are often submitted to ODRS via Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR). Guidance on infectious disease surveillance, case management, infection control, and disease reporting can be found in the Infectious Disease Control Manual (IDCM).
