Immunization Registry Reporting
Overview of the Program
The goal of the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Immunization Program is to reduce and eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases among Ohio's children, adolescents and adults. To assist in reaching this goal, ODH developed a web-based statewide immunization registry.
The ODH immunization registry collects immunization and other health and demographic information from doctor’s offices, hospitals, insurance carriers, public health clinics, and other health care providers. Records for Ohio’s citizens are then visible to other health care providers around the state, including forecasting of next doses due for administration. An increasing percentage of this information is sent electronically in HL7 messages.
ODH Policy for Meaningful Use and Quality Payment Program (Effective 4/25/2016)
The ODH Immunization Registry is accepting HL7 immunization files that meet federal standards for Meaningful Use (MU) and the Quality Payment Program. The registry is inviting Eligible Professionals (EPs), Eligible Clinicians (ECs), Eligible Hospitals (EHs) and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) to submit immunization data from EHs and CAHs (as of October 1, 2013), EPs (as of January 1, 2014), and ECs (as of January 1, 2017). ODH is supporting bidirectional exchange and inviting organizations to participate as resources allow. There is no need to re-register with ODH to indicate interest in bi-directional exchange.
If you wish to electronically report immunization data, please request enrollment to send immunization data at www.OhioPublicHealthReporting.info and review the technical information. When technically and operationally ready to work on an interface, please formally register to submit immunization data to the registry at www.OhioPublicHealthReporting.info.
For those wishing to submit a test file to evaluate whether your message format is acceptable to ODH, please request enrollment to send immunization data and upload a test file at www.OhioPublicHealthReporting.info. Help with submitting the file is found here.
