Bureau of Maternal, Child, & Family Health

The Bureau of Maternal, Child, and Family Health (BMCFH) is organized to support families by improving birth outcomes and the health status of women, infants, children, and youth, including children and youth with complex health care needs. Using data and proven practice, the bureau’s programs support the delivery of direct services, linkages and referrals, population-based supports, program evaluation, education, monitoring and quality oversight, and policy and systems development.

Efforts to improve health outcomes are conducted collaboratively with other state agencies, community-based organizations including local health departments, health care providers, insurance, businesses, nonprofit entities, education, and health.

The bureau manages the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant. The BMCFH priority needs are addressed in coordination and collaboration with support from the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant and the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP).

Bureau priorities are accomplished through five major program sections: Child and Specialty Health; Complex Medical Help; Data and Surveillance; Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); and Women and Family Health Services.  For more information about the work of the bureau, click on the links on the left-hand side.
