The Check it. Change it. Control it. Your Heart Depends on It toolkit was designed to address high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol with African American families. The toolkit provides resources for both physicians and patients that focus on why it is important to track blood pressure and cholesterol and provides tips for improving lifestyle behaviors. Health, United States Spotlight – Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Heart Disease
Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Heart Disease Spotlight explores racial and ethnic disparities in three heart disease topic areas: deaths, reported prevalence, and risk factors. Even though four clinical risk factors—hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and high total cholesterol—are explored here, behavioral risk factors, such as smoking and physical inactivity, also differ by race and ethnicity.
