2025 Vaccines for Children Annual Education Requirement

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires all VFC providers to receive annual training regarding the VFC program and vaccine storage. To fulfill this requirement, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) directs primary and back up VFC coordinators to complete two modules in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC TRAIN:

  1. WB4905: You Call the Shots – Module 10 - Storage and Handling – 2025.
  2. WB4906: You Call the Shots – Module 16 - Vaccines for Children Program – 2025.

The modules must be completed at least once every 12 months. Coordinators should maintain the certificates of completion on site to be reviewed during site visits. Unless individually requested, certificates should not be submitted with recertification forms.

ODH recommends that any other office staff who work with vaccines consider completing this on-line training. CDC TRAIN is a CDC system and ODH is not able to assist with password or account troubleshooting.

To complete the trainings, go to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC TRAIN and log in.

  1. Register for and complete the courses.
  2. Pass the post-assessment at 80%.
  3. Complete the evaluation.
  4. Visit “Your Learning” to access your certificates and transcript.

Annual Education Refresher Test Option:
VFC Coordinators who have successfully completed the You Call the Shots modules 10 and 16 in 2023 or later have another option to meet the annual VFC education requirement. These coordinators have the option to complete the Vaccines for Children Refresher Test and the Storage and Handling Refresher Test and maintain the certificates on file for review during a site visit. Please note that continuing education credit is not available for completion of either refresher test.

Please contact the Immunization Program at 1-800-282-0546 with any VFC related questions.
Thank you for your efforts to safely vaccinate Ohio’s children on time.
