Authorized Foods Submission Process

The Ohio WIC program updated the submission and approval process for WIC food submissions. The Authorized Foods List (AFL) will now be released once a year, on Oct. 1. The submission deadline included in the updated electronic AFL is May 1.

The process for submitting foods items has changed. Product information will be submitted to the Ohio WIC SharePoint folder. Please email OhioWICUPC@odh.ohio.gov with your contact information in order to receive a separate email with you SharePoint Login.

New food submissions with all required attachments and product information should be uploaded to manufacturer specific Ohio WIC SharePoint folder. Please email OhioWICUPC@odh.ohio.gov once submissions complete. Required attachments and information include:

  • UPC code(s) (12 digits).
  • Product information.
    • Brand.
    • Product name.
    • Type (frozen, canned, etc.)
    • Size.
  • Images.
    • Front label showing product name and size.
    • UPC.
    • Ingredient list.
    • Nutrition panel.

Acceptable file types include: pdf, tif, gif, jpg, png, and bmp.

Upon complete submission of all required items, Ohio WIC will communicate to manufacturers through the OhioWICUPC@odh.ohio.gov email if their product(s) have been approved or denied within 60 days from the complete submission date. The approved food items will be available for purchase at this time.

The updated information will be communicated to WIC staff and participants on a quarterly basis. The electronic version of the AFL will be released prior to Oct. 1 and will reflect the additions made over the year.

UPC Updates for Approved Products

Products previously approved may have UPC updates. Any changes should follow the process below:
