WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)
The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a coupon program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. The FMNP is supplementary to the WIC Program, which provides nutrition education and nutritious foods to pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to 5 years old. The FMNP operates annually June-October and provides coupons to WIC participants to purchase fresh, locally-grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers, farmers’ markets, and farm stands.
During fiscal year 2024, $540,245 in program funding provided farmers' market benefits to 27,461 WIC participants. Across the state, 199 farmers and 64 farmers' markets were authorized in 70 counties to redeem these benefits.
