Hospital Price Transparency
Effective April 3, 2025, Ohio Revised Code 3727.32 requires a hospital to make public both of the following:
- A digital file in a machine-readable format that contains a list of all standard charges, expressed in dollar amounts, for all hospital items or services, as described in Ohio Revised Code 3727.33.
- The federal machine-readable file template has been deemed to meet the director’s template requirements.
- A consumer-friendly list of standard charges for the hospital's shoppable services or an internet-based price estimator tool, as described in Ohio Revised Code 3727.34.
- The consumer-friendly shoppable services list that includes all the components under Ohio Revised Code 3727.34, is sufficient to meet the director’s template requirements.
- An internet-based price estimator tool deemed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as meeting the federal price transparency law, meets the requirements of the state price transparency law.
To provide the Ohio Department of Health with updates to your price lists or tool, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3727.35, a hospital representative should sign up for access to Juvare’s EMResource with this Licensure Juvare User/Organization Request form to obtain access to the State of Ohio Licensure and Regulatory Requirements region of EMResource. Here, you will find a Hospital Price Transparency Reporting form to provide the Ohio Department of Health with your list or tool updates.
Note that at least once a year, a hospital must update the lists it maintains under Ohio Revised Code 3727.33 and 3727.34. Please complete and submit your hospital's initial Hospital Price Transparency Reporting form by Oct. 31, 2025. Annual updates as required by the Ohio Revised Code 3727.33 and 3727.34, shall be submitted between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31 each year, though a hospital is able to submit additional list changes at any time.
